Army Identifies Soldiers Killed In Washington Helicopter Crash

The Army has released the names of four soldiers killed Wednesday when the military helicopter they were on crashed near a base in Washington state. The victims are chief warrant officers Andrew Cully and Andrew Kraus, and sergeants Donavon Scott and Jadalyn Good, the Army said Monday in a release. Cully, 35, was from Sparta, Missouri. Kraus, 39, was from Sanibel, Florida. Scott, 25, was from Tacoma, Washington, and Good, 23, was from Mount Vernon, Washington. The helicopter was on a routine flight training west of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The base is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of Tacoma under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Joint Base Headquarters. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The skies in the area were mostly clear with light winds from the south around the time of the crash, according to the National Weather Service. The soldiers “embodied the unwavering dedication, selflessness, and excellence that define the very spirit of the Army and Army Special Operations,” Col. Stephen Smith said in the release. They were part of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, an elite team that does nighttime missions, when their MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed about 9 p.m. The regiment’s mission is to organize, equip and employ Army special operations aviation forces around the world, according to the Army’s website. “Known as Night Stalkers, these soldiers are recognized for their proficiency in nighttime operations,” the website said. “They are highly trained and ready to accomplish the very toughest missions in all environments, anywhere in the world, day or night, with unparalleled precision.” This was the second deadly crash of this elite unit in recent years. Five Army aviation special operations forces were killed when a helicopter crashed in the Eastern Mediterranean in 2023 during a routine air refueling mission as part of military training. They were all part of the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In March 2024, two soldiers from the Joint Base Lewis-McChord SOAR unit were hospitalized when their Apache helicopter crashed at the base during a routine training exercise.

Trump Links Autism With Tylenol, Backs Folic Acid As Treatment

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday there was a link between the use of popular over-the-counter pain medication Tylenol and the development of autism during pregnancy. Trump also suggested leucovorin, a form of folic acid, as a treatment for autism symptoms during a White House event. The Food and Drug Administration published a notice to the Federal Register ahead of his speech, approving a version of the drug made by GSK it had previously withdrawn. The FDA approved the drug for a condition it associated with autism. The FDA cited a review of the use of leucovorin in 40 patients with a rare metabolic disorder called cerebral folate deficiency that can lead to a range of neurological symptoms, some of which are seen in people with autism. The FDA will be notifying doctors that using Tylenol during pregnancy can be associated with a very increased risk of autism, Trump said, without presenting evidence for the claim. "Taking Tylenol is not good. I'll say it. Not good," he said. "You shouldn't give the child a Tylenol every time he gets a shot," he added. Researchers say there is no firm evidence of a link between the use of Tylenol and autism. They say leucovorin, used to treat some cancer patients on chemotherapy, has shown some promise in very small trials, but that large, randomized trials are still needed. Tylenol is made by consumer health company Kenvue, which was spun off from Johnson & Johnson in 2023, and generic versions of acetaminophen are also available. The company said on Monday it disagreed with the suggestion of a link which it said was not based in science.

ABC Ends Jimmy Kimmel's Suspension; Show Will Return Tuesday

Disney said "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will return to its ABC network lineup on Tuesday, six days after it suspended the talk-show host following threats by the Federal Communications Commission chairman over comments the host had made about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. In announcing the decision to bring Kimmel back to the airwaves, ABC's parent company said it had suspended production of the show "to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country." The Disney statement went on to say the company felt some of Kimmel's comments in question "were ill-timed and thus insensitive." However, after further discussions with the ABC late-night host, "we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," Disney said.

Tomorrow: Closing Arguments In Ryan Routh Attempted Assassination Of Trump Case

A man accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at his Florida golf course last year has chosen not to testify in his own defense. A Secret Service agent testified that he spotted the man and fired, causing him to flee. Routh has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted assassination and assaulting a federal officer. Suspect In New Hampshire Country Club Shooting Appears In Court

A man charged in a fatal shooting at a New Hampshire country club is set to make an initial court appearance Monday. Authorities say patrons at a restaurant acted quickly and selflessly to stop a gunman who opened fire while a wedding was taking place at a New Hampshire country club, averting a worse tragedy. They say one person was killed and two others were wounded by the gunfire Saturday night before the suspect was taken into custody in a nearby neighborhood not long after the shooting. Authorities say gunfire killed 59-year-old Robert DeCesare Jr. at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. Witnesses at the scene say someone struck the shooter with a chair in an attempt to subdue him.
