Negroni Sbagliato

**from Martha Stewart**

Serves 10-12

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup red aperitivo, such as Campari or Aperol
  • ½ cup sweet vermouth, such as Carpano Antica
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • Ice, for serving
  • 1 bottle (750 milliliters) prosecco brut or other dry sparkling white wine, chilled
  • Chilled club soda, orange slices, and rosemary sprigs, for serving (optional)

A few notes on making this:

  • This recipe is from the queen of entertaining, Martha Stewart. I found it a few years ago and made it at Thanksgiving… it has been my go-to holiday cocktail ever since.
  • It’s not too sweet, and the Prosecco makes it extra festive. If you prefer a more bitter drink, use Campari. If not, use Aperol.
  • Another reason it’s perfect for the holidays is that it can be pre-batched earlier in the day or even a day ahead, and then when you’re ready to serve, simply add the Prosecco. No mixing/shaking required.

Directions:

  • In a pitcher or punch bowl, combine Campari, vermouth, and lemon juice; refrigerate until ready to serve (or combine in an airtight container and refrigerate up to 3 days).
  • Just before serving, add ice to pitcher, top with prosecco, and stir once. Pour into ice-filled glasses, top each with a splash of soda, and garnish each with a citrus slice and rosemary sprig; serve immediately.
